An art school in Detroit, College for Creative Studies, has released one of the most clever and entertaining ad campaigns I have seen in some time. A parody of the anti-drug PSAs from the ’80s, the campaign succeeds in being both humorous and incisive. Continue reading

Art at 35,000 Feet? Not for Everyone.
Virgin Atlantic recently launched its “Gallery in the Air” for first-class passengers. For its inaugural launch, it is featuring British street artist, Ben Eine. Continue reading
Kubrick at LACMA
When I was nine, my sister took me to see 2001: A Space Odyssey at the Oleander Cinemas in Wilmington, North Carolina; it was a lot of movie for a nine-year-old. I saw A Clockwork Orange for the first time in a college film studies class (I wasn’t allowed to see that one at nine although I’m sure I tried). Continue reading

Seeing Red
First, my apologies for abandoning the blog for so long. It has been an eventful few months (in a good way), and I’ve put this on the back burner for a while. The True Value of Art

SFMOMA’s Intermission
SFMOMA just acquired a piece by one of my favorite American artists: Intermission by Edward Hopper. Continue reading
Cuba Part 3: When is a Cigar Box Not Just a Cigar Box?
[For the first two installments, go here and here.]
My primary motivation for visiting Cuba had everything to do with art. Naturally, I’ve seen the Cuban art that makes it to the US, but what of the art that doesn’t, which is of course most of it? Continue reading
Art in the New Year
Who knew it could take so long to recover from the holidays? With no more reality TV shows to prompt regular posts, I’ll need to make more of an effort to keep all-things-art-blog-related moving in 2012. Continue reading
Work of Art S2: Finale
Another season of Work of Art is behind us, and I can’t help but feel a bit let down. The season finale proved a bit uneventful and more than a tad predictable. But, even though something seemed to be missing, the season produced some memorable pieces. Continue reading
